For a couple who have lived in Dubai for the last few years, we get asked frequently for recommendations on where to stay when visiting United Arab Emirates for the first time.
First of all let us tell you something about this part of the world, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world, so don’t hesitate to make that solo trip if that’s what’s stopping you from visiting.
Dubai is unlike anywhere else on this planet. It is enriched with a fusion of local Bedouin heritage and ultramodern style.
Now that we have convinced you to come visit our home, if you are planning a visit to Dubai or looking for a place for a staycation within UAE, we highly recommend staying at the Ramada Downtown by Wyndham.
This 4 star hotel apartment boasts 181 suites comprising of studio rooms, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and a magnificent penthouse.
The spacious rooms at Ramada Downtown by Wyhndham features elegantly designed interiors touched by bright accents and are fully furnished with a fully-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine and laundry facilities for home-like convenience. Don''t forget to sign up for your Wyndham Rewards program.
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown with view of the Dubai fountains & Burj Khalifa. With the fountain view room option, you can enjoy the beautiful dancing fountain shows daily starting at 6:00pm from the comfort of your balcony. With 24 hour room service and a barrage of restaurants within walking distance, Ramada Downtown is "THE" place to stay.
The hotel also offers a state of the art gym, tennis court and a separate swimming pool for adults and children. Steam room is also available on site. Check the reception for guest discounts at the on-site Rayya Wellness Spa for some time out and rejuvenation.
Though there is a Starbucks at a 5 min walking distance, the hotel’s very own Downtown Perk café also offers Starbucks coffee on its menu. For breakfast, lunch or dinner head on to the continental Kenza Restaurant on the second floor, where you can have your food served at the pool side as well, if you prefer.
Stepping outside the hotel there is definitely a lot to do within a short walking radius. Start your day by visiting the Dubai mall which is only a short 6 to 8 minute walk from the hotel, where you can shop for souvenirs, luxury brands, visit the Dubai aquarium or enjoy a quick meal at the food court.
The Dubai mall is one of the biggest malls we have visited and by far one of our favorite ones too. You can also access the visitor gallery of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, from within the mall. Skip the queue by booking tickets in advance if you plan to visit the Burj top on https://tickets.atthetop.ae/atthetop/en-us
Once you’re done shopping and exploring the Dubai mall, head on to the Souk Al Bahar, which is located in the middle of the from the hotel & the mall. The souk, though a modern construction, is based on the old Arab bazaars straight out of an Arabian Nights story.
You will find everything from traditional Arabic art, food, souvenirs to henna, furniture and shisha. If hungry, look for any restaurant with a balcony view of the fountains, you won’t regret it.
In the evening take a light stroll around downtown, enjoying beautiful art installations, exploring the Dubai Opera or Burj Park. The path is lined with shisha cafes, coffee shops and Arabic restaurants. End your day with a nice dinner at any one of the many restaurants in Downtown followed by a traditional shisha or Arabic coffee before heading back to the comfort of Ramada Downtown by Wyndham.
